Do You Have Nose for All Things Beautiful?
The nose takes centre stage, and it automatically defines our face as a whole.
The nose is an important, defining feature, and considering that it sits right in the middle of our face, it is hard for us not to be critical of its shape! But what if you’re not too pleased with how your nose looks and the last thing you want is to go under the knife to change it? Well, there are non-surgical options that you can consider.
Nose enhancement with threadlift
The use of a non-surgical threadlift procedure is well known when it comes to addressing sagging skin issues. This procedure is also effective when it comes to the nose, particularly for those with a low nose bridge and blunt nose tip. Threadlifts are often called a “lunchtime lift” as it can be completed in under an hour.
There are two main classes of threads – Silhouette Soft®and polydioxanone (PDO) thread. The Silhouette Soft threads are made of Poly L-lactic Acid (PLLA), and comes with bidirectional cones made of the same material attached for anchoring the thread to the skin. It is recommended for correcting signs of ageing in the nasolabial fold, cheeks, jowls, neck, and brows.
The PDO threadlift is made popular by the Koreans, and it is particularly suitable for lifting the nose. PDO threads use cogs (tiny hooks) within the threads for anchoring the skin and stimulate collagen production. It is safe and absorbable by the body.
Dermal filler for the nose
When it comes to aesthetic treatments, one of the most common treatments is arguably the use of dermal fillers to enhance our features and fight against ageing. Many filler brands in the market uses hyaluronic acid – a natural compound found in the body that helps to hydrate and add volume to our skin. Filler brands containing hyaluronic acid include Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Belotero®. There are also non-hyaluronic acid fillers such as Radiesse®and Sculptra®. These fillers work by stimulating collagen to restore the volume lost, lift skin, and improve skin texture.
Dermal fillers are injected under the skin using a blunt tip cannula to treat facial volume loss and rejuvenate the face. It is also often used for nose augmentation, where doctors use it to enhance the shape and height of the nose to improve definition and appearance.
So how do you decide which treatment is suitable for your nose? “Be sure to tell your doctor all your concerns and needs before you proceed with any treatment. An experienced aesthetic doctor will recommend the most suitable type of product to achieve the result you want,” says Dr. Terence Tan, Director of Halley Medical Aesthetics.
We shouldn’t judge a person based on looks. Beauty is after all, only skin deep. However, subtle changes can make a big difference to a person’s confidence level. “It’s about enhancing what you already have, and not making a different version of you,” adds Dr. Tan. So happy lifting everyone!
